Shikome

Shikome, a very ugly and scary female demon
Shikome
Yomotsu-shikome (the hags of Yomi), or Yomotsu-hisame, appear in Japanese mythology. According to various Japanese legends, eight shikome were sent by Izanami to bring Izanagi back to the underworld.
Shikome are described as female demons, very fearsome and savage. The legend of Izanami is similar in many ways to that of Orpheus and Eurydice. The shikome are akin to the Furies in Thracian legends who tore Orpheus to pieces. However, the shikome represent divine wrath and do not possess the sensuality and "charm" of the Furies serving Dionysus in Thracian myths. In the Japanese version of this legend, Izanagi manages to escape.
